- We're still hiring for openings in a very cool Python & cloud position, so please apply soon if you are interested!
- frankban landed a gigantic lpsetup branch to simplify code flow per discussions we've had lately in the squad (see last week's "topics" discussion about OO vs. functions, etc.).
- benji and gary_poster interviewed a lot.
- bac identified and worked on final changes before we ask for user acceptance for lpsetup. In particular, we are trying to get rid of the finish-init-target command and we are trying to clean up the top-level help text.
- benji may have fixed bug 1030148 (and now needs to integrate the fix into Launchpad).
- gary_poster managed to run parallel tests a few times. The basics are still working. The three pre-existing bugs are still there. We now also have subunit bug 1038250 and probable test interaction bug 1038253.
Weekly Goal Progress
We accomplished all of our main goals...given that I categorized some of them as "stretch goals" once we got half way through the week.frankban was only with us Monday, and benji and gary_poster had very limited availability because of interviews.
- Continue running parallel tests on the EC2 32 core machine and aggregating results.
DONE, kind of. gary_poster ran a few tests on one day, and recorded the bugs but not the statistics. - Attempt fix for bug 1030148.
DONE. It was a change in our pgbouncer integration code. We need to get the fix integrated into Launchpad now. - Remove finish-init-host command from lpsetup by copying launchpad-database-setup to lpsetup and running it in init-host; moving make schema to the update command; and making install-lxc run make install itself.
DONE. - Change the lpsetup init-host command to be named init-target.
DONE. - STRETCH GOAL: Fix up help presentation and make lp-setup help describe necessary command steps for various scenarios.
NOT DONE. - STRETCH GOAL: Add logs of what lpsetup did.
NOT DONE, and demoted from goal for next week. - STRETCH GOAL: Start lpsetup user testing.
NOT DONE.
Action Items
- ACTION due August 17: squad will evaluate the personal feedback loop experiment.
POSTPONED to September 28. We have decided to extend the experiment, given limited experience. See short discussion in the "topics" post for this week. - ACTION: gary_poster will add checklists for starting a kanban card and creating a kanban card.
Carried over and still NOT DONE four weeks later. gary_poster may need to admit that he's too skeptical of the value of this to actually accomplish it. Maybe give it two more weeks.
Goals for Next Week
gary_poster and bac are out Monday-Wednesday. gary_poster and benji will then probably have interviews Thursday and Friday. frankban is out Monday.- Continue running parallel tests on the EC2 32 core machine and aggregating results.
- Integrate fix for bug 1030148.
- Fix bug 1038250.
- Fix bug 1038253.
- In lp-setup, move "make schema" from "finish-init-target" to "update"; and remove "finish-init-target" ("install-lxc" will call "make install" directly)
- Fix up lp-setup help presentation and make lp-setup help describe necessary command steps for various scenarios
- STRETCH GOAL: Start lpsetup user testing.
